Frozen Wild Ruby Red Shrimp 26-30 ct
These Gulf Coast shrimp are easily identified because of their beautiful, bright color, though in the wild you'll never see them because they live offshore in waters over a half a mile deep, particularly fond of the Continental shelf. With a texture and taste similar to lobster, it's a good thing these shrimp freeze well because they aren't easy to find. A stark difference to farmed shrimp from oversees, Ruby Reds are harvested as a wild product here in the United States where they plentifully line the southern coasts in deep waters.
Many claim that cooking Ruby Red Shrimp takes less than half the time compared to other shrimp, just ninety seconds in boiling water. This preserves their texture and flavor; overcooked they are otherwise lost. Peeled and sautéed with butter, then finished with lime and pepper is another favorite preparation from their home on the Gulf Coast.
